Alex Iwobi is hopeful that Fulham can revive their Premier League campaign after earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday, Prompt News Online reports.
The Super Eagles midfielder proved decisive, scoring the only goal of the encounter in the first half to end Fulham’s winless start to the league season and secure a vital three points for the London club.
Reacting to the result, Iwobi described the victory as long overdue, noting that Fulham had delivered encouraging performances despite struggling to translate them into positive results.
Speaking to Fulham TV, the Nigerian international urged his teammates to build on the win and maintain their momentum in the matches ahead.
“The win was a long time coming. We have performed well even though the results spoke otherwise,” Iwobi said.
“The manager has asked us to keep going, and hopefully the luck will go our way. It has now started, so we just have to kick on and use this momentum for the rest of the season.”
Although pleased with the outcome, Iwobi admitted that Fulham still needed to improve their finishing, arguing that the team had created enough chances to score more goals against Hull City.
“It was a convincing performance, even though the criticism, even for me, is that we could have scored more goals,” he added.
“As long as we’re creating the opportunities, we will score more goals.”
The midfielder also stressed the importance of maintaining defensive discipline, pointing out that keeping clean sheets would improve Fulham’s chances of picking up more victories.
“If we’re able to keep clean sheets like we did against Hull City, it will give us a chance to win games,” he said.
Fulham will now look to build on the hard-earned victory as they seek greater consistency in the Premier League, with Iwobi hoping the result signals a turning point in their season.
