Fayemi’s Mega Rally A Show Of Shame – Ekiti Group

            APC Mega Rally

The Ekiti Movement for Good Governance (EMGG) has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, as a “show of shame and lack of respect for the sanctity of human lives.”
In a release issued on Thursday, and signed by EMGG National Secretary, Dr Abiodun Aina, the group also said the rally was a reflection of the dwindling popularity of the APC in Ekiti State, saying; “The crowd at the rally was obviously manipulated by television camera to portray the attendance as massive.”

According to Dr Aina, “it was disheartening that the APC leaders went ahead to hold the rally despite the Jos, Plateau State bomb blasts in which hundreds of Nigerians were killed.”
While describing the rally as shameful, EMGG said it was laughable that the venue of the rally was scanty despite that people from the neighbouring states attended the rally.
“The APC, with its poor showing during the so-called mega rally manipulated television cameras to deceive the public that the stadium was full to capacity when in actual fact, not up to half of the stadium was filled while there were several empty seats at the gallery.
“If Governor Fayemi will be honest with himself, he should compare the crowd that attended his inauguration in 2010 with the number of people at his so-called mega rally of Wednesday. If he does that, the governor will realise that Ekiti people have abandoned him,” the group said.
The group further averred that it was looking forward to witnessing Opeyemi Bamidele and ex-Governor Ayodele Fayose’s mega rallies to enable it know who is the most popular.
EMGG, which lambasted the APC, describing the party as one peopled by those without human feelings, saying; “it amounts to a show of insensitivity to the plights of Nigerians, who lost their lives in the Jos bomb blast for the APC leaders to have gathered in Ado-Ekiti, dancing to Adewale Ayuba’s Bonsue Fuji music.”
The group however said it joined President Goodluck Jonathan and other well meaning Nigerians to condemn the Boko Haram’s attack on innocent people of Jos, and Sympathized with families of the departed souls.
