Ekiti driver borrows N3.5m to back Tinubu, two others

            By Ado Oyeyemi

An Ado-Ekiti-based mini-truck driver, Adeleye Adeniyi, has disclosed that he borrowed N3.5m to support the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Ekiti State House of Assembly member Steve Fatoba.

Adeniyi, popularly known as “Online Loan Man for BAO”, made the disclosure in a video interview circulating on Friday, in which he displayed a cardboard cheque bearing the amounts he pledged to the three politicians.

The cheque indicated N2m for Tinubu, N1m for Bamidele and N500,000 for Fatoba.

The driver said his decision to borrow the money was motivated by his belief in the performance of the politicians and his desire to support their return to office.

“I am supporting Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second-term ambition. I have borrowed money. I want to use this money to support him because he’s doing a very great job,” he said.

Adeniyi also pledged to campaign for Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election, saying he was prepared to mobilise support for the President.

He urged Nigerians to vote for Tinubu for a second term, expressing confidence that the President would deliver more benefits to the country if re-elected.

“I will appeal to my fellow Nigerians that we should demonstrate love by giving him, by voting him for his second term in office, because we are still going to see much more, more than what we have received,” he said.

The driver also commended Bamidele and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as their contributions to healthcare, education, electricity supply and rural infrastructure.

Speaking about Bamidele, Adeniyi said the senator’s support for development projects had strengthened his belief in his leadership.

“Most times, I look at the kind of projects that you always put on, you always supported. It always encouraged me that, no, indeed, this is a good leader,” he said.

Adeniyi had previously attracted public attention in February 2026 after reportedly obtaining a loan through the digital lending platform OPay to brand a vehicle in support of Oyebanji’s second-term ambition.

The driver, who operates around the BAO Timber Market along Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti, had said his earlier decision was inspired by his admiration for the governor’s administration.

He also praised Oyebanji and Tinubu for their policies on education, healthcare and citizens’ welfare, urging residents to support the governor’s re-election bid.
