Paris Saint-Germain Féminine have announced that Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade will undergo surgery after fracturing her fibula while representing Nigeria on international duty.
The 26-year-old sustained the injury during Nigeria’s second-leg clash against Comoros in the second qualifying round of the 2028 Olympic Games at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne.
Ajibade was unable to continue and was substituted in the 23rd minute, with Folashade Ijamilusi coming on in her place. The Super Falcons, however, went on to record a convincing 5-0 victory.
PSG confirmed the injury in a statement on the club’s official website, adding that the forward would undergo surgery performed by one of the club’s leading surgeons before starting her rehabilitation.
“Rasheedat Ajibade, who was injured during Nigeria’s most recent national team match against Comoros, has suffered a fibula fracture,” the club stated.
“Our forward will undergo surgery soon, performed by one of the Club’s leading surgeons, before beginning her rehabilitation with the Paris Saint-Germain medical team.”
The former Atlético Madrid star will begin her recovery under the supervision of PSG’s medical team following the procedure.
The French club is yet to announce a timeline for Ajibade’s return to action, leaving her availability for upcoming club and international fixtures uncertain.
