A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi state, Ben Okah, who recently aspired for the Ishielu/ Ezza North federal constituency on Thursday, said that those predicting violence in the forthcoming 2019 general elections are prophets of doom.
Okah, who was a former commissioner for public utility made this known while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi state, also noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, cannot intimidate or stop the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar, from wining in the forthcoming 2019 polls.
He expressed regret that the economy of Nigeria has witnessed a huge setback since the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration.
He said: “Our economy has been lowered to the unbearable ebb. What will you be expecting from the APC in the next four years, is to kill the economy? No it can’t happen.
“Atiku is a business man and he puts his money where he will make profits. I think our economy will boom as soon as Atiku is declared President of Nigeria.
“The economy will boom because people will now bring investment into the country and investments from outside the country are what will boast the economy. We expect to have a boom of the country’s economy as soon as Atiku wins in 2019 election.
The former commissioner, however called on Nigerians to vote wisely and protect their votes in the forthcoming general election.
“In the general election, I don’t believe that there will be crisis to mar the election. The agencies of crisis will be weeded out. Nigerians are more enlightened now and they can protect their votes.
“Nigerians know where to vote and how to vote and how to protect their votes. It is a prophet of doom that is saying that Nigeria will be embroiled by crisis.
“The election will not be lopsided. The Presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubaka is a man of the people, who is far ahead of the President. You cannot intimidate Atiku out of the race.
“And Mr. Buhari is an incumbent and you can’t easily push him out of the race. So, it is a balanced contest, which PDP may come first at the end of the day” he stated.
