Nigerian comedian Odeh Ajiri Princewill has reacted to allegations of domestic violence made by his former wife, Chioma, admitting that he slapped her twice during their marriage but denying several other accusations she levelled against him.
In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Princewill revealed that he had initially prepared a one-hour response addressing the allegations in detail but decided against releasing it after receiving a personal appeal from Pastor Gbenga of Harvesters International Christian Church, Magodo.
“I had already scheduled the one-hour video, and in that video, with God who made me, I gave details. I have taken it down everywhere except Instagram because I don’t know how to delete a scheduled post. I am doing this because of you, pastor,” he said.
The comedian also dismissed claims that he only provided ₦200,000 monthly to cover rent, school fees and other family expenses.
According to him, he continued to pay Chioma’s rent and health insurance even after they separated and also recently settled medical bills for her sister during childbirth.
“She has never paid rent. Even after we were no longer together, I still paid her rent. I also paid for her HMO, and whenever she called that she needed money, I still sent it,” he added.
Prompt News reports Princewill acknowledged physically assaulting his former wife on two occasions, saying he regrets his actions and has apologised.
“I had instances where I slapped this girl twice in the marriage, and I’m not proud of it. I apologised for it,” he said.
He, however, claimed he had remained silent about issues he experienced during the marriage because of their children.
“The number of men that came to drop her at my gate during the marriage, the number of men that gave Chioma money during the marriage, I kept quiet.
“Let it be known that I kept quiet because of AJ and TJ.”
Princewill’s remarks come after Chioma released a viral video accusing him of physically abusing her, including allegedly assaulting her while she was recovering from a Caesarean section. She also accused him of intimidation and repeated infidelity.

Responding to allegations that she had been unfaithful during the marriage, Chioma denied the claim, describing it as “a lie from the pit of hell.”
She also expressed fears for her safety, saying: “If anything happens to me and my family, the world should hold Comedian Princewill and his family responsible.”
Chioma disclosed that the alleged incidents were reported to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, after which both parties agreed to end the marriage.
She further argued that if infidelity had been an issue, it would have been included in the divorce petition Princewill filed in January 2026 after her family returned her bride price in December 2025.
