Grammy-winning American singer Ciara Princess Wilson has made a return to Lagos, Nigeria, in what has been described as a cultural homecoming celebrating the city’s growing prominence in art, fashion, and tourism.
Her visit aligns with the 15th anniversary of Lagos Fashion Week, a milestone event supported by the Lagos State Government to promote creativity and cultural exchange.
Confirming her arrival, Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State, announced on X that Ciara was in the city alongside the Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka.
He wrote: “International Superstar, Grammy Award Winner, CIARA Princess Wilson is in Lagos, accompanied by the Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka. She will be joining us in Lagos to celebrate our Tourism, our Art, and our culture. It’s a homecoming for her and other creatives who see Lagos as home. Wearing a stunning blue adire gown with a matching head wrap, she drew cheers from fans when she exclaimed, “Eko oni baje,” meaning “Lagos will not be ruined.”
Gawat also revealed that Ciara toured the famous Balogun Market, one of Lagos’ busiest commercial hubs, as part of her cultural itinerary.
