Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has been impeached by members of the House.
A credible source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Hon. Lasbat Meranda, the Deputy Speaker, has been appointed as Obasa’s replacement.
Hon. Fatai Mojeed, the Deputy Chief Whip, has also been elected as the new Deputy Speaker.
The impeachment is believed to stem from various controversial financial issues surrounding Obasa.
The source’s brief statement read, “Obasa has been impeached, and Hon. Mojisola Meranda has been elected as the new Speaker, with Mojeed Fatai as Deputy Speaker.”
