One person has died, and two others were rescued following the collapse of a well in Gargajiga town, Minjibir Local Government Area, Kano State, on Thursday.

In a statement on Friday, Kano State Fire Service spokesperson Saminu Abdullahi explained that the incident occurred during the re-digging and repair of the well.

The incident was reported by Bashir Namadi, who made a distress call prompting a response from the Fire Service.

Abdullahi said, “Three individuals were involved: one inside the well and two outside. The well’s sides gave way, causing the collapse and burying all three.”

Upon arrival at 12:20 p.m., the Fire Service’s emergency crew rescued two individuals alive. Unfortunately, one person, identified as 50-year-old Yusuf Nadabo, was found unconscious and later confirmed dead.

The rescued individuals were taken to the ward head of Gargajiga town for further assistance.
