The Nigeria Air Force is constructing Nigerian Air Force Maintenance Hangar at the force operations command in Bauchi State.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadeeq Abubakar, in his remarks at the commencement of the construction in Baluchi on Tuesday,  commended the Bauchi State Government for its regular and unwavering support to the Air Force.

He said  the contributions of the state government to the air force had, in no small measure,  aided the current fight against insurgency in the Northeast and other security challenges affecting the northern region.

The air  chief  said the aircraft maintenance  hangar would add value to the fight against insurgency and other security breaches, saying it would also facilitate and promote research activities between and among existing institutions.

He said experts such as engineers and technicians would be deployed to man and make the hangar fully operational, adding that he expected more collaboration between the air force and host communities toward the success of the project.

Abubakar said the hangar would accommodate no fewer than 10 aircraft, adding that all combat aircraft would be serviced at the hangar.

He said that the Air Force had just ordered some combat aircraft.

Earlier, Air Vice Marshal Chalse Ohow,  the Operational Commander of Bauchi Special Operation Command,  said the hangar would facilitate easy contact and closeness across all air force  facilities nationwide.

He commended the chief of air staff for finding his command worthy of housing the project, stressing that the command would make judicious use of the facility.

The state Gov. Bala Mohammed described the siting of the facility in Bauchi as timely and a promise kept by the Nigerian Air Force, said the hanger would further promote the state’s  security situation.

He said the air force had greatly contributed toward securing the nation, stressing that the  facility would further motivate and encourage its  men  to perform optimally.

The governor said his administration would continue to support the air force in the conduct of its activities for greater success, adding that the state remained determined to secure its people.
