            By Tony Obiechina Abuja

The Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police, Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin, Salman-Dogo Garba, has urged officers and men to uphold professional standards and ensure intelligence-led policing in the fight against crimes.

This is contained in a statement on Friday by SP Tijani Momoh, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO).

Garba gave the charge in his maiden security conference held with the Commissioners of Police Edo and Delta Commands, as well as Deputy Commissioners of Police, Operations and Criminal Investigations Department from both commands and the zonal management team.

He also tasked them on the need to be proactive and ensure discipline and loyalty to the Force.

According to him, all officers and men in the zone must exhibit and maintain utmost professionalism in their respective commands as well as discipline including self and official.

“You must be loyal to the Nigeria Police Force, while performing their duties of maintaining law and order and upholding public peace,” he said.

He commended efforts and initiatives of the senior officers in curbing crime and criminality in their areas of responsibility, and also charged them to continuously be on top situations at their respective Areas of Responsibilities (AORs).

He also directed that all DPOs should be mobilised to respond promptly, efficiently and effectively to all incidents that occur within their jurisdiction.

He further charged personnel to continue to improve and enhance their anti-crime strategies to see crime reduced significantly.

In the same vein, the AIG also met with Area Commanders, Squadron Commanders and Intelligence Officers from both states commands and tasked them on high level intelligence gathering and policing.

He also used the opportunity to felicitate the Christian faithful on the occasion of the Easter celebration, marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He enjoined them to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, love, progress and prosperity in the zone and county at large.

He further assured them that in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IG Kayode Egbetokun, adequate security measures have been emplaced across the zone to ensure a hitch-free, peaceful and crime free Easter celebration.

He urged members of the public to be vigilant, and report any suspicious person(s) to the nearest Police station.
