From Germany’s SSOAR to Ukraine’s UA.News: Sundiata Post Model Expands Its European Trail

ABUJA, Nigeria — The Sundiata Post Model has taken a second route into Europe, moving from its earlier scholarly presence in Germany to a new media audience in Ukraine through the publication of Nigerian scholar-journalist and media executive Max Nwabueze Amuchie’s The Sunday Stew column on UA.News.

The development marks a progression in the international circulation of the Model. Its first European route was through SSOAR (Social Science Open Access Repository), Germany, where the foundational working paper, ‘The Sundiata Post Model: Journalism as a Knowledge Institution — Architecture, Endurance, and Legacy’, was deposited and made permanently accessible through the German National Library’s URN system (https://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:0168-ssoar-112351-8).

            .

Its second route is through UA.News, Ukraine, which has published Amuchie’s work for two consecutive weeks — September 13 and September 20 — with the articles appearing in both English and Ukrainian.

The two routes serve different functions. SSOAR places the Model within a scholarly and open-access research environment, while UA.News carries its ideas into an international media environment and a different linguistic and national audience.

The development therefore extends the Sundiata Post Model’s journey beyond a single form of dissemination. An idea that originated in an independent Nigerian newsroom has moved from newsroom practice into a formal research record in Germany and is now being encountered through media syndication in Ukraine.

            The September 13 UA.News publication

entitled “Nigerian journalist Amuchie described the newsroom model as a knowledge centre” examined Amuchie’s conception of the newsroom as a site of knowledge production and the institutional ideas underpinning the Sundiata Post Model (https://ua.news/en/world/nigeriiskii-zhurnalist-amuchiie-opisav-model-redaktsiyi-iak-tsentru-znan).

One week later, on September 20, UA.News published “Max Amuchie on the path of ideas from desk to world,” focusing on Amuchie’s newly articulated 4 Enoughs of the Sundiata Post Model—the desk as the point of beginning, the institution as the means of continuity, the archive as the means of preservation, and the world as the arena of testing (https://ua.news/en/world/maks-amuchi-opisav-shliakh-idei-vid-stolu-do-svitu-premium-times-nigeria).

Both the September 13 and September 20 publications are indexed in Google, providing a publicly discoverable record of the international circulation of the work.

“The significance is not simply that an article from Nigeria appeared in Ukraine,” said Max Nwabueze Amuchie, CEO/Theorist-In-Chief of Sundiata Post Media Ltd and Lead Researcher, Sundiata Post Intelligence Unit (SPIU). “What matters is that an idea originating at a Nigerian newsroom—and carried through a weekly column like ‘The Sunday Stew’—has entered another media environment, another language and another audience. This follows the earlier scholarly circulation of our work through SSOAR in Germany. That is precisely the journey contemplated by the 4 Enoughs: the desk, the institution, the archive and, ultimately, the world.”

The development is particularly notable because the two UA.News publications engage with the ideas behind Sundiata Post, rather than representing only the redistribution of conventional breaking-news reports.

The Sunday Stew: A Vehicle for Global Intellectual Circulation

‘The Sunday Stew’ is the weekly analytical flagship of Sundiata Post, where Amuchie distills complex national and global issues into accessible, framework-driven commentary. Its syndication to UA.News—and its translation into Ukrainian—demonstrates that the column is not merely a domestic opinion piece, but a portable intellectual asset capable of crossing borders, languages, and cultural contexts.

            From Newsroom to Knowledge Institution

The Sundiata Post Model originated from a practical question: Can an independent newsroom become a knowledge-producing institution?

The Model proposes an architecture that integrates journalism, original research, conceptual innovation and scholarly dissemination. Its developing framework includes the Media Operations Engine and Knowledge Operations Engine, the Realm of the Long Term, Seven Pillars of institutional endurance, Four Levels of institutional influence and a Triple Institutional Architecture involving Sundiata Post Media, the Sundiata Post Intelligence Unit and a foundation for wider civic impact.

The Sundiata Post Intelligence Unit (SPIU) serves as the research and conceptual-development arm of the organisation, producing analytical frameworks and working papers intended for both public discourse and scholarly dissemination. It is this research output that was previously indexed by SSOAR, Germany, under the title “The Sundiata Post Model: Journalism as a Knowledge Institution – Architecture, Endurance, and Legacy.”

The 4 Enoughs: From the Desk to the World

The 4 Enoughs emerged from the Sundiata Post Model but extends its underlying question beyond journalism. Its propositions are:

•The desk is enough to begin.

•The institution is enough to sustain.

•The archive is enough to preserve.

•The world is enough to test.

The framework examines knowledge not merely as something created, but as something that must be capable of beginning, enduring, surviving its originator, entering a permanent record and encountering audiences beyond its original setting.

Its international circulation through SSOAR, ‘The Sunday Stew’, and UA.News therefore provides real-world instances of the fourth stage: the world as the arena in which an idea encounters another audience, another language, and another intellectual environment.

            An African-Originated Intellectual Project Travels

For Sundiata Post, the UA.News publications form part of a broader strategy of building a media organisation whose output can function simultaneously as journalism, research, intellectual property and an enduring institutional record.

The development also follows the growing dissemination of Sundiata Post research through international scholarly repositories and the work of the Sundiata Post Intelligence Unit in developing original conceptual frameworks on governance, insecurity, state structure and institutional change.

“The ambition has never been simply to publish,” Amuchie said. “It is to build an institution capable of producing, preserving and transmitting knowledge. When an idea that began at a Nigerian desk—and was refined in a weekly column like The Sunday Stew—reaches another continent, another language and another audience—first through scholarly repositories in Germany, and now through media platforms in Ukraine—the journey has entered a new phase.”

The two UA.News publications therefore represent more than an overseas appearance for an individual column. They document an emerging pathway through which ideas generated within an independent African newsroom can move through international media networks and enter wider intellectual circulation.
