Afrobeats star Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has sparked controversy after demanding severe punishments for rapists amid rising sexual assault reports across Nigeria.
On Tuesday night, the singer took to X to call for decisive action against sexual violence targeting women, writing:
“I’m sickkk of this. Stop raping women. They need to castrate rapists and burn them.”
Her remarks ignited debate online, with some arguing that false rape accusers should also face similar punishments.
Simi clarified that her appeal focuses solely on rape victims, not individuals making false allegations, explaining that almost all the women she knows have experienced sexual assault.
