Popular Nollywood actor and comedian Adeyemi Elesho, better known as Yemi Elesho, has shared heartfelt stories about his childhood and early days in entertainment.
In a revealing interview with actress Biola Bayo, Yemi disclosed that he grew up not knowing that the legendary Yoruba actor Baba Elesho was his biological father. He recalled learning the truth around the age of 10 during a casual moment at home.
“I didn’t know that man was my dad for five to ten years. Until, one day, we were watching film and my mother was like that’s your dad,” he said.

Yemi went on to share a bold chapter from his childhood when he decided to leave home in search of his father. He explained that he left a handwritten note for his mother and traveled to Lagos on his own.
“My mother wasn’t around when I left. I wore a tight black round-neck shirt and bathroom slippers and left. My mother wasn’t around, but I wrote her a letter telling her not to look for me as I had gone to Lagos. I am only going to see my dad,” he recounted.
Speaking about his journey into content creation, Yemi noted that he had started making short comedy videos long before the term “skits” became popular.
“I started doing skits before we knew it was called skits. I wouldn’t say it was tonight; it wasn’t as smooth as I had expected, being the son of Eleso,” he shared.
He also gave a special shout-out to fellow entertainer Yhemo Lee, praising his generosity and constant support.
“Shout to Yhemo Lee, as long as you are with him when he is around, he pays our bills. After eating, none of us paid except Yhemo Lee. He would clear all the bills,” he said.
Yemi concluded the interview with a valuable piece of wisdom:
“As long as you are contended you are rich.”
