Five witnesses on Wednesday testified against content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, as proceedings continued in his trial over alleged rape and manslaughter linked to the death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.
The witnesses, who appeared before the Delta State High Court in Asaba, included the deceased’s twin sister, brother and father, the medical doctor who conducted her post-mortem examination, and an investigating police officer.
The prosecution also tendered video evidence in support of its case against the defendant.
However, proceedings encountered a delay after the defence counsel requested additional time to examine the statements of the prosecution witnesses and other evidence recently served on the defence.
The prosecution said it was ready to proceed with the trial but acknowledged the need to give the defence sufficient time to study the materials to ensure a fair hearing.
The prosecution team was led by the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Delta State Ministry of Justice, Omamuzo Erebe, SAN, alongside the Director of Public Prosecutions, Tejiri Anuhwin, and other state counsel.
Ogbonna had pleaded not guilty to the charges on October 21, 2026, when he was arraigned before Justice Michael Nduka Obi.
The charges arose from allegations of rape involving Agbro, whose death in June 2026 prompted the criminal proceedings against the content creator.
The case was subsequently adjourned until November 19, 2026, for continuation of the trial, with the prosecution expected to present further witnesses and evidence.
Recall that Ogbonna was arrested and arraigned following allegations that he raped Agbro, who later died after ingesting a toxic substance.
