Mojisola Meranda has stepped down as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Announcing her resignation during a special plenary on Monday, Meranda read out her resignation letter, formally relinquishing the position she assumed on January 13, 2025.
Her resignation comes amid reports of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa’s possible reinstatement. Despite her brief tenure, lawmakers praised her leadership and contributions to the Assembly.
Alongside Meranda, all principal officers appointed during her time in office have also resigned.
