Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi has backed up put up a respectable showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Jose Peseiro’s side will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A at the competition.
The Super Eagles have struggled in recent outings but Mikel is hopeful the players will be at their best in Cote d’Ivoire.
“There is a lot of difference, isn’t it? Football has changed from ten years ago and dogmatically, it has really changed I think this group of players now are a very young team,” Mikel told CAF’s Media.
“They play a total different brand of football, so let’s hope we can really see good performance by us, the Nigerian team.”
Mikel was part of the Super Eagles side that conquered the rest of the continent at the 2013 edition hosted by South Africa. READ ALSO:
