Yobe State Executive Council has approved the sum of N12.7 billion for capital projects to uplift the living standard of the people.

Alhaji Mohammed Lamin, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, disclosed this shortly after the executive council meeting on Thursday in Damaturu.

The commissioner said N356.9 million was approved for the procurement of eight assorted Toyota vehicles for use by Conference Visitors Units (CVU), Ministries, Departments & Agencies (MDAs) and the Governor’s office.

He said N1 billion is for the construction of 16-km stone base pavement on Nguru-Balanguwa road and the Construction of 30-km Balanguwa-Kumagannam Asphalt road at the total cost of N6.7 billion.

Lamin also said the council approved the Construction of 10-km Chumbusko-Tagali road at the cost of N2.1 billion.

He said N1.2 billion was approved for the revised additional works as a result of fluctuations in the prices of building materials for the construction of Potiskum Modern market.

He said the Council also approved variation and additional works for construction of standard material and Child Health Complex at Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, at the cost of N749.5 million.

He added that Council also approved N437.5 million for the supply of medical consumables to the Ministry of Health. (NAN)
