The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has expressed her deep shock and sorrow following the tragic death of Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, who was killed by her estranged partner in the Karu area of Nasarawa State.
In a statement issued by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jonathan Eze, on Tuesday, the minister condemned the brutal act and demanded justice for the victim and her family.
The 24-year-old Adaidu had been serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja before her tragic death.
“As a mother, I find it heartbreaking to come to terms with the senseless murder and dismemberment of Miss Salome Adaidu. This heinous act has no place in any society. It is high time parents and communities take responsibility for safeguarding the well-being of women, girls, and children. We must act when we see signs of danger; we cannot continue to ignore these issues. The right to life is a fundamental human right that must be protected,” the statement read.
The minister called on relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Salome’s death and ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice.
She reassured the family that the Ministry would offer its full support in the pursuit of justice.
“We also urge all Nigerians to unite in condemning this tragic act of violence and to demand an end to the growing trend of killings and abuse of women and girls in our country. Together, we can create a society where women and girls are safe from harm. My deepest sympathies go to the family and loved ones of the deceased. No one, especially young girls with bright futures, should lose their life in such a cruel manner,” she added.
