West Ham and Fulham target Akor Adams could leave Montpellier in January for a fee of around £15-20million, sources have told Football Insider.
Both clubs have scouted him extensively and are eyeing potential moves for the 23-year-old following his impressive early-season form in Ligue 1.
The London duo are in the market for new strikers in the January window and Adams is just one name on the shortlist of both sides.
He only joined Montpellier in August from Lillestrom for a fee of around £5million but has impressed in his first months in France.
One well-placed recruitment source has told Football Insider that Adams has the potential to be the “next Victor Osimhen” – with the Napoli forward also perfecting his craft with a spell in Ligue 1.
The 6ft 3in forward could break into the senior Nigeria setup alongside Osimhen in the coming months.
It is believed Montpellier don’t want to lose the striker so early into his time at the club, but they acknowledge the opportunity to bank a healthy profit and are not likely to turn down big bids.
Adams has hit seven goals in 16 Ligue 1 outings so far in the 2023-24 campaign and is second only to Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe in the league’s scoring charts.
The 23-year-old, who hit 17 goals in 18 games for Lillestrom earlier this year before departing, is under contract at Montpellier until June 2027. READ ALSO:
