The Super Falcons’ scheduled international friendly against Ghana’s Black Queens ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations has been cancelled, Prompt News Online reports.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the development on the Super Falcons’ official X account on Friday, stating that the match had been called off due to unforeseen circumstances.
The encounter was originally billed for Saturday at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca and was expected to provide both West African rivals with a valuable final test before the start of the continental showpiece.
The cancellation means the Super Falcons will now continue preparations in training as head coach Justine Madugu fine-tunes his squad for the tournament.
Nigeria opened their training camp in Casablanca earlier this week and have been intensifying preparations for the competition, where they will be aiming to successfully defend the title they won in 2024 and claim a record-extending 11th WAFCON crown.
The nine-time African champions will kick off their Group C campaign against debutants Malawi’s Scorchers at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday, 28 July.
The Super Falcons will then face Zambia before wrapping up their group-stage fixtures against Egypt as they also target qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the four semi-finalists earning automatic tickets to the global tournament.
