Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has reiterated his team’s determination to secure a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil and successfully defend their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, Prompt News Online reports.
Nigeria will face eternal rivals Cameroon in a potentially explosive quarter-final clash at the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Casablanca on Sunday.
Victory in the encounter will guarantee the Super Falcons a place in the semi-finals as well as qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Madugu’s side recovered from a shock defeat to the Scorchers of Malawi in their opening fixture, and the tactician insists the setback has not altered the team’s objectives at the tournament.
“Our objective remains picking the World Cup ticket and then going ahead to retain the trophy. Nothing has changed,” Madugu told a press conference in Casablanca on Saturday.
The Super Falcons will now turn their attention to the crucial showdown against Cameroon as they continue their quest for another continental crown.
Sunday’s encounter will take place at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca and will kick off at 6pm Nigeria time
