From Harry Awurumibe, Casablanca
Nine-time African champions Nigeria will know her quarter-final opponents after today’s final Group B match against Algeria at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Prompt News reports.
Recall that Super Falcons were the first team to qualify for quarter-finals stage after securing a maximum of six points from two earlier matches in the group courtesy of a 3-0 bashing of Tunisia and 1-0 defeat of stubborn Mares of Botswana.
But, he Confederation of African Football CAF has not listed who the West Africans will face in the quarter-final stage.
This is even as hosts Morocco and Zambia that have concluded their group matches have been listed, but their quarter-final stage opponents have not been confirmed on the CAF website as at the time of filing this report.
Zambia was thought to be the opponent of the winner of Group B in the last eight, which will provide a blockbuster clash against Nigeria if the WAFCON record winners avoid defeat against Algeria today (Sunday) in Casablanca, but that permutation will have to wait until the end of the match between Nigeria and Algeria because football is an unpredictable sport.

Should Algeria with four points defeat Nigeria with six points by whatever margin, the Les Fennecs will top Group B with seven points while the Super Falcons will drop to second position as Tunisia and Botswana battle for the third position which could also secure either of them a place in the quarter-final stage.

This is why the Nigerian camp should make their calculations on who they want to meet in the quarter-final stage with above permutations and prepare for whatever come their way.
Meanwhile, the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco will take on the third-placed finisher in Group B or Group C, which could be Algeria or Nigeria while Senegal that finished third in Group A with three points must now wait to see if they will progress to the quarter-finals as one of the two best-ranked third-place sides.
