The Dutse Emirate Council in Jigawa State has suspended the Village Head of Tsagewa in Miga District, Usaini Muhammad, over allegations bordering on the confiscation of property belonging to orphans and the illegal sale of community farmlands.
The suspension was conveyed in a statement issued by the Secretary of the Dutse Emirate Council, Alhaji Amadu Malami.
According to the statement, the disciplinary action takes immediate effect following multiple complaints lodged against the traditional ruler.
The council accused the suspended village head of allegedly taking possession of assets belonging to orphans within the community, an act said to have sparked concern among residents.
Muhammad was also accused of unlawfully selling community farmlands entrusted to the care of the traditional institution.
The emirate council directed the embattled village head to refund all monies allegedly linked to the disputed transactions within four weeks.
The statement stressed that traditional rulers appointed under the emirate system are expected to protect the welfare of the people, uphold integrity and remain faithful to the oath of office administered upon their appointment.

The council added that any breach of public trust or abuse of office would not be tolerated under the emirate’s leadership structure.
