Malawi U-20 women’s national team captain Laticia Chinyamula says the team remains determined to put up a strong fight against Nigeria’s Falconets despite their first-leg defeat, Prompt News reports.
The Young Scorchers are chasing a historic first-ever qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Maggie Chombo’s side fell to a 2-0 loss against Moses Aduku’s Falconets in the first leg of the final qualifying round at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne last weekend.
To secure a place at Poland 2026, the Malawians will need to score at least three unanswered goals in the return leg.
Despite the tough task ahead, Chinyamula expressed confidence in the team’s resolve, insisting they will battle until the final whistle in pursuit of their World Cup dream.
“We know what this match means to the nation, and as players we are ready to give everything on the pitch. We believe in ourselves, and we will fight until the final whistle,” Chinyamula told a press conference ahead of the game.
The encounter will kick-off at 3pm local time 2pm Nigeria time.
