At least 21 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists have been killed by troops of Operation HADIN KAI during a coordinated offensive in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The operation was carried out on Thursday, August 27, in the Kopre Mountain axis following intelligence on the presence and activities of the insurgents in the area.
The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
He said the offensive involved troops from the Office of the National Security Adviser Tactical Team and newly inducted personnel of 226 Battalion deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa.
According to Goni, the troops navigated the challenging terrain stealthily before launching an attack on the terrorists’ hideout in the early hours of the day.
He said the encounter occurred in two phases and resulted in the deaths of more than 21 terrorists, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
After the engagement, the troops reportedly secured the area and destroyed the terrorist camp and its logistics facilities.
Several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit, allegedly used to support the terrorists’ operations, were also destroyed.
The troops further recovered AK-47 rifles, magazines and a significant quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition from the camp.
Goni said the offensive was part of efforts to rescue persons held captive by terrorist groups in the region.
He listed among those being targeted for rescue victims abducted from Mussa community in May and schoolchildren kidnapped from Lassa in June 2026.
The military spokesman said the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated, intelligence-based military action in difficult terrain and further restricted the terrorists’ freedom of movement.
