Super Falcons defender Oluwatosin Demehin has been officially conferred with the traditional title in Ilaje, Ondo State, Prompt News reports.
Demehin was honoured with the title, Yeye Akeweje Ilaje, by His Royal Majesty, Oba Kayode Aiyetiwa, the Oba of Bariga.
The Oba of Bariga recognises Demehin’s contributions to youth development and her inspirational role as a community leader and role model.
The ceremonial honor, conferred by the Oba-in-Council and witnessed by members of the Ilaje-Bariga community, celebrates her achievements both on and off the pitch.
“This is more than a title — it’s a call to inspire, lead and uplift the youth of our beloved Ilaje community,” Demehin wrote on her X account.
”I’m humbled and grateful for this recognition and the opportunity to serve in this new capacity.”
The 23-year-old was part of the Super Falcons side that won the title at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations last month.
Demehin featured in all of Super Falcons’ six he games at the competition.
The former Falconets player was gifted N30m,and a house by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa earlier this week.
