Philip Otele has been given a two-match suspension by the German Football Association following his red card in Hamburger SV’s North derby loss to Werder Bremen last weekend, Prompt News reports.
Hamburg challenged the decision made by referee Florian Exner, but their appeal was dismissed by the DFB.
The 27-year-old winger will now sit out upcoming Bundesliga matches against TSG Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Otele joined Hamburg on loan from Swiss outfit FC Basel in January.
Hamburg have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
