Nigeria’s Super Eagles dropped to 46th position in the latest FIFA men’s ranking for September, Prompt News reports.
Eric Chelle’s side were previously ranked in 45th position.
The Super Eagles played two matches this month- 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
The three-time African champions defeated Rwanda 1-0 in Uyo, while they battled to a 1-1 with South Africa in Bloemfontein.
Nigeria also dropped to sixth position in Africa.
Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Cote d’Ivoire are the top five highest ranked teams in Africa.
European champions, Spain replace Argentina at the top of the ranking, ending the South American’s two-year reign.
Slovakia are the biggest risers, climbing 10 places.
