Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Wednesday signed N110 billion 2022 appropriation bill into law.Speaking at the signing ceremony in Lafia, Sule lauded  the House of Assembly members for passing the budget within the shortest period of time.

He said that the he presented the budget on December 9 but the assembly members denied themselves weekends and holidays to ensure the it is pass. “The assembly at first pass it on December 22 with the increase to N114 billion, but after going through and based on the reality on ground I sent it back for amendment and they sat again and pass it into law on Wednesday, 29.

“This kind of commitment by the honourable members is the first of its kind since the state was created in 1996,” Sule noted. Sule further said that the budget performance of the administration in 2021 is 64 per cent, and he his determined to surpass that performance in 2022.

The expressed optimism that with the caliber of persons appointed and inaugurated as commissioners and other sides, the administration would perform more than the previous years. Sule also announced that he would make Shendam-Toto filling station way through Government House to Alkurba a dual carriage road.

“On that same day I will also flag off the construction of Agbashi-Edadu road  in Doma Local Government Area to open the communities in the area to Urban areas.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  recalls that on Dec.9, Sule presented the 2022 budget proposal of N109.8 billion to the state House of  Assembly for consideration and approval.

The NAN  also recalls that on Dec.22, the assembly passed  N114. 3 bilion as 2022 budget, but had to review it downward and pass it in an emergency sitting on Dec. 29 as a result of request by the governor.

Earlier, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, presented the budget to the governor for his assent. The speaker therefore promised that the assembly would continue to support the governor through legislation for the overall development of the state.(NAN).
