A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has cautioned opposition parties against politicising the ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Oyintiloye, in a statement issued in Osogbo on Sunday, said the arrest of some opposition politicians over alleged corruption should not be interpreted as a political witch-hunt.
He stressed that membership of an opposition party does not confer immunity from prosecution.
“The EFCC has a mandate to investigate financial infractions against anyone, irrespective of political affiliations,” Oyintiloye said. “Linking the President to investigations of alleged financial infractions by opposition members in the name of politics is totally wrong.”
He urged those criticising President Bola Tinubu over the probes of former governors and other politicians to desist, insisting that the anti-graft agency must be allowed to carry out its work.
“More corrupt politicians hiding in opposition parties with the intent to blackmail the President to get themselves off the hook will still be arrested.
