Sleep is an interesting phenomenal. When you go to sleep, you readily announce to howsoever is listening that “am going to sleep”. The clever one will inform you thus: “am going to bed”. There is a wide difference between announcing your intent and action taken place realtime.
How do I mean?:
It is certain that couple that lie on same bed, or mother and baby sleeping side by side will not achieve sleeping state at exactly the same time. It is also certain that it is not all that sleeps that will sleep well and soundly too.
Mystery of sleep:
The miracle of sleep is that waking up from sleep is not a decision for joint partnership. Each one wakes up when his or her biological clock have completed its sleep duration from deep to ream sleep.
The Scare:
The scary aspect of sleeping is that not all that go to bed or go to sleep will have the benefit of waking up after sleep. Some might land in hospital, some will suffer paralyses, while some will pass to the great beyond. Yet people go to sleep taken it for granted that waking up is guaranteed!
No particular Time For Sleeping:
The mystery is that sleeping does not have a particular time or period. Sleep will come when it will come. Like death, you cannot stop it. When you have the benefit of experiencing it, take it to refresh.
Taking Sleep For Granted:
In all of these, a lot people does not value it not until he/she lacks the capacity to sleep. Any wonder people sleep on very expensive bed in a well designed and decorated bedroom, yet sleep does not come. While denying yourself sleep is an ancient waiting to happen.
Enjoyed Sleep:
The spontaneous sleep that comes effortlessly is refreshingly refreshing. It could be a short nap on a reclining chair, a head on the desk or table or flatly laying on a surface. So long the sleep is spontaneous, it is enjoyed irrespective of the surface. Any wonder you see someone lying on rough surface, snoring away and on waking up, telling you, ‘oh, I had a sound sleep’!
Obstruction To Sleep:
When You can’t sleep due to worries- seek help please
When you are delirious – find out why? It could be mental health issue.
When you have a bout of fever – seek treatment
Unable to eat well and so unable to sleep: never skip dinner
When the body or brains not tired enough to be able to sleep at all the sleep comes but, with dreams of things termed as spiritual attack.
Things Must Happen:
There are so many factors that could lead to sleeplessness.
In sleeping, things happen. In not being able to sleep things will also happen. How well do you appreciate Allah (Majesty belong to Him), for the sleep that you freely announce to the household you are embarking upon, which may or may not happen after all.
Ordering Sleep?:
Parents are ready to direct the child to go and sleep
The adolescent are asked ‘when will you sleep?’
The one sick of loneliness will readily inform you: “I cannot sleep” or ‘I didn’t sleep well’ or ‘I can’t find sleep’.
The Praise of The Most High:
The creator of the heavens and the earth praises Himself thus:
“Neither sleep nor slumber overtaketh Me”
Sleep is Display of Weakness:
Allah also know that you as human are weak. You get tired. You need help and you needed to rejuvenate. Therefore, you must sleep and soundly too.
Listen to Allah speak to you :
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ مَنَامُكُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَابْتِغَاؤُكُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ
“And among His Signs is the sleep that you take by night and by day, and your seeking of His Bounty. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who listen”. (Ar-Rum 30:23)
Favor From Above:
Sleep is associated with seeking of the bounty of Allah.
No good sleep result to low performance
No drugs, or chemical will give you sound sleep
Your conscience if evil, will give you bad sleep
It is therefore a big blessing being able to find sleep
The Key Message is-
Devote worship to Allah Alone:
Everyone that sleeps is not object of worship
Anything that sleeps is weak
What sleeps will also die
Worship non but Allah. Whom neither sleep nor slumber overtaketh.
The Essence of Life is for you to know that Sleep and It’s Marvels are among the Signs and Symbols from Allah swt.
You need to devote worship to Allah for this favor and appreciate the mercy from above.
