Authorities in Saudi Arabia have confirmed that the crescent moon marking the start of Shawwal 1447 AH was not sighted on Wednesday, signalling the completion of the 30-day Ramadan fast.
Following the announcement, Muslims in the kingdom are expected to observe the final day of fasting on Thursday, with Eid el-Fitr celebrations slated for Friday, March 20, 2026.
The declaration comes after the traditional moon-sighting exercise, a practice that determines the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the next Islamic month.
