The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of the body of a 28-year-old student of the Federal University Kashere, identified as Enoch Sunday Maisamari, from a stagnant pool of water in Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed the development in a statement on Friday, revealing that the incident was reported to the police on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at about 9:30 a.m.
According to Abdullahi, officers received information that the motionless body of the student had been discovered in the village before it was evacuated for medical examination.
He said the deceased was taken to the General Hospital in Kashere, where doctors confirmed him dead.
The police spokesperson noted that no visible signs of violence were found on the body during the preliminary examination.
He added that investigations had commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death and establish its exact cause.

The command appealed to residents to remain calm and allow investigators to carry out a thorough inquiry into the incident.
