The Police Command in Kaduna State, on Wednesday, inaugurated a police outpost in the oil village of Sabon Tasha in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Muri, while inaugurating the project, called on residents to continue to provide useful and credible information that would lead to the arrest of criminals.
Muri, represented by the Kakuri Area Commander, ACP Shuaibu Rufa’I, assured that with the inauguration of the outpost and provision of useful and credible information by members of the community, crime rates would reduce to the barest minimum.
He said that the command would deploy personnel to the outpost, with a view to ensuring law and order in the area.
The police commissioner, while thanking residents of community for the construction of the outpost, expressed the hope that it would metamorphose into a standard divisional headquarters.
Speaking on behalf of the residents, Mr Boniface John, explained that incessant attacks on the community by kidnappers had resulted in unpleasant exodus due to fear of the unknown.
He said that the ugly incident had necessitated the formation of a joint task force in the community, in synergy with the armed forces and other paramilitary agencies, so as to stem the tide.
John commended the state police command for its support and cooperation to the community.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that goodwill messages were delivered by the district head of the community and religious leaders as well as the inspection of the outpost by representative of the police commissioner. (NAN)
