The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested several suspects linked to alleged vandalism, theft and cattle rustling during separate intelligence driven operations across different parts of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Shisu Lawan Adam, disclosed in a statement on Thursday that the operations, carried out on July 8, led to the recovery of electric cable wires, a PlayStation 5 game console, two plasma television sets and three suspected stolen cows.
According to the statement, police operatives apprehended three suspects over the alleged vandalism of electric cables believed to have been removed from behind a hotel in Dutse metropolis.
The suspects were identified as Aminu Mohammed, 17, of Fagoji Quarters, Abdullahi Mustapha, 17, of Zai Quarters, and Sani Umar, 18, of Shagari Quarters, all residents of Dutse Local Government Area.
Investigations, according to the police, revealed that some of the suspects were allegedly involved in receiving the stolen property.
In another operation, officers attached to the Dutse Division arrested a 23 year old suspect, Suleiman Muhammad of Mariri Quarters in Kano State, for allegedly possessing suspected stolen property, including a PlayStation 5 console and two plasma television sets valued at about N2.5 million.
The police said the recovered items were traced to their rightful owners, identified and released to them on bond, while the suspect will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The command also recorded another breakthrough with the arrest of a suspected cattle rustler by operatives of the Guri Division working alongside local vigilantes.
Police said three suspected stolen cows were recovered from the suspect’s compound.
The livestock has since been returned to its owner, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected cattle rustling syndicate.
Commending the officers involved in the operations, the Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, Haruna A. Yahaya, praised their professionalism and dedication to duty.
He also appreciated members of the public for providing useful information that contributed to the successful arrests.

The police commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information capable of aiding the fight against crime across the state.
