Veteran actor Patrick Doyle has opened up about his relationship with ex-wife Ireti Doyle, emphasizing his choice to stay silent rather than speak negatively about her.
The former couple, who married in 2004 and finalized their divorce earlier this year, have continued to maintain a professional connection, including co-starring in the 2023 thriller The Black Book.
Speaking on Wake Up Nigeria, Doyle explained that his “anointing” guides his words and prevents him from criticizing others.
“I would like to say that if I don’t have anything nice to say about a person, I would rather remain silent. My anointing doesn’t allow me to speak ill of anyone, whether dead or alive,” he said.

Prompt News reports he also commended Ireti for her career progress, noting:
“I’m happy that the Doyle name has opened doors for her, and so far she hasn’t disgraced the name. She is doing very well, and I’m proud of her achievements in the industry. I hope it continues that way.”
Earlier this year, Patrick suggested that Ireti still uses his surname to maintain relevance in Nollywood, stating:
“I can never be defined by her. My body of work is too solid to be defined by anyone. Why is Doyle popular? Why did the person revert to Doyle after the separation? Who is responsible for making whom popular? The name predates that person’s emergence. It is okay with me. I do not have a problem with it.”
Patrick remarried in 2022 to Olufunmilayo, making their union public in March 2023.
