Victor Osimhen is now Nigeria’s all time record second joint-top scorer, Prompt News reports.
The Galatasaray forward rescued a point for the Super Eagles in the 1-1 draw against Benin Republic on Thursday night.
It was Osimhen’s 23rd goal for the three-time African champions moving him to second position on Nigeria’s all-time scorers’ chart alongside the legendary Segun Odegbami.
The late Rashidi Yekini is Nigeria’s leading top scorer with 37 goals.
The 25-year-old will have a chance to move ahead of Odegbami and get close to Yekini’s record when the Super Eagles take on the Amavubi of Rwanda in their last 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game next week Monday.
The encounter will hold at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
