Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau has revealed that the proposal put forward by the club managers to change the name from Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, to Nigeria Premier League, NPL was rejected by the Glasshouse as only the Congress of NFF has the power to effect such change.
Gusau while speaking to PROMPT NEWS said such proposal will enhance the image of the league and bring in confidence on the part of the intending sponsors but the power lies with the Congress either to accept or reject.
“It was the NFF Congress that approved the present name Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, the same Congress will give nod for a change in name Nigeria Premier League,NPL. For now the league is known as NPFL,” Gusau said.
Also the Zamfara born football administrator further revealed that the Congress of Nigeria Football Federation will hold in September this year with the venue unknown.
