The Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Dr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has been elected Chairman of the African Accountants Association during the Annual General Meeting of the Association held in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
According to a statement from zhe Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), on Thursday, Dr. Ogunjimi secured a decisive victory in the election, polling 83 percent of the total votes cast, followed by Tanzania which received 11 percent votes, while the Republic of The Gambia polled 6 percent of the total votes cast.
The statement further stated that Ogunjimi’s election is a demonstration of the confidence reposed in his leadership, professional competence, and commitment to strengthening public financial management across Africa.
It also reflects the recognition of Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and reforms in public sector financial administration.
As Chairman of the African Accountants-General, Dr. Ogunjimi is expected to provide strategic leadership in advancing collaboration among member countries, promoting best practices in public financial management, and strengthening institutional capacity across the continent.
The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation also congratulates Dr. Ogunjimi on this significant achievement and expresses confidence that his leadership will further enhance cooperation among African nations in advancing sound public financial management.
