BENIN CITY – Godwin Obaseki has emerged the winner of Edo State governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The governorship primaries which started at about 5.30 pm at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Saturday, was concluded in the early hours of Sunday.
He defeated 11 other aspirants including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu.
Other aspirants defeated were Chris Ogiemwonyi, Kenneth Imasuangbon, retired General Charles Airhavbere and Peter Esele.
Obaseki appears to be the anointed candidate of Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari presided over the conduct of the primaries.
The Governorship election in Edo state is billed to hold in November 2016.
