The Jigawa State Command of the NSCDC said the suspects were apprehended during a routine surveillance operation conducted by operatives of the Gandun Sarki Division on July 28, 2026, as part of efforts to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure.
According to the command’s spokesperson, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, the suspects were intercepted behind the perimeter fence of the School of Nursing while allegedly in possession of 13 square metres of aluminium roofing sheets believed to have been removed from an ongoing renovation project at the institution.
The suspects were identified as Adamu Mohd, 31, a security guard attached to the school and resident of Ramin Zaki Quarters in Hadejia; Dan Inu Mohd, 35, a carpenter from Gandun Sarki in Malam Madori Local Government Area; Isma’ila Adamu, 30, a tricycle rider from the same community; and Bashari Yahaya, 25, an apprentice.
Tijjani said preliminary investigations indicated that the alleged theft involved one of the school’s security personnel, a development he described as exposing weaknesses in the institution’s internal security system.
He disclosed that the management of the School of Nursing had been informed of the incident and advised to strengthen security arrangements to prevent similar occurrences.
The spokesperson added that the command had drawn the attention of the institution to the identified security gaps and recommended improved internal security measures to safeguard public property.
Jigawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, CC Muhammad Ingawa, reiterated the Corps’ resolve to protect critical national assets across the state.
He warned individuals involved in vandalism, theft and other forms of economic sabotage to desist, stressing that the command would sustain intelligence gathering, surveillance and enforcement operations to ensure offenders are apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
