Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi on Sunday defeated visiting Enyimba International FC of Aba 1-0 in a 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 8 fixture.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Chukwuka Onuwa scored the match’s lone goal in the 80th minute.
Lobi Stars’ Chief Coach, Eddy Dombraye, later said the defeat of Enyimba had given them confidence that they could be on top of the league table.
“Lobi Stars have always been a big team and we will maintain this status,” he said
The coach of Enyimba, Finidi George, on his part expressed happiness that his players made good efforts during the game, in spite of their loss.
“We have learnt a lot from this game, and we will go back to the drawing board in order to improve on our performances,” he added.
Speaking also to NAN, a fan of Lobi Stars, Paul Chia, said the team should strive to be converting most of their goalscoring chances.
“Even though Lobi Stars were in control of the game, they did not utilise their goalscoring chances. If they had done so, they would have scored more than a goal today (Sunday),” he said.(NAN)
