Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has celebrated his 45th birthday with a surprise gift from his friend and fellow clergyman, Pastor Jerry Eze.
Bassey revealed on Instagram on Friday that Eze had presented him with a Range Rover as a birthday present.
The singer, who marked his birthday on Thursday, August 27, said he usually prefers to keep details of his personal life away from the public but decided to share the gesture because of how much it meant to him.
Prompt News reports Bassey explained that he had expected to spend his birthday quietly, thanking God for another year, but Eze had secretly worked with his wife to arrange the surprise.
He said he was completely unaware of the plan until the gift was presented to him.
“Normally I keep things like this private, but not this one. I want to share this. Woke up yesterday just desiring a nice, easy day of gratitude to God. Unknown to me, my brother and friend @realjerryeze had this holy coup ongoing with my wife,” he wrote.
According to Bassey, his wife had initially suggested another vehicle, but Eze insisted on getting him a Range Rover because he believed his friend deserved the best.
“Of truth, the surpriser had been surprised. Still don’t know how to really express this in words. He insisted on going for the very best when my wife suggested one to get. In his words, ‘My brother can’t drive that,’” he added.
The singer described Eze as an exceptionally generous person, revealing that the clergyman was also preparing similar surprises for other people.
“Pastor Jerry, not only has he done this for me. I know of a couple of others like this he is currently planning. The man gives like his life depends on it,” Bassey wrote.
He expressed his appreciation to Eze and said his love and respect for him would remain the same regardless of the expensive gift.

“And I’m here to publicly say THANK YOU, PJ (Pastor Jerry) – You know, even if you never do this, I’d still love you the same. Thank you, Sir. Like I told you, I am speechless,” he said.
Bassey also prayed for Eze and his family, asking that the happiness the gift brought to his household would return to the clergyman in greater measure.
“May the smile you have put on my face and my family be seen in multiple folds on you and yours, in Jesus’ name,” he added.
The gospel singer subsequently asked his followers to join him in appreciating Eze for the gesture.
“So please, help me thank Him on my behalf. Weary him today with gratitude. Tell him his brother is grateful. Thank you,” he concluded.
Pastor Jerry Eze is the founder of Streams of Joy International and the convener of the online prayer platform NSPPD.
