The Nasru-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) says it has began a three-month free Information Technology (IT) Certification Examination Training for Nigerian youths so as not to be left behind in the job opportunities provided by the fast growing IT industry.

Its Chief Missioner, Imam Abdul-Azeez Onike, said the training was perfectly in line with the HELD (Health, Education, Livelihood and Da’wah) policy of the society. Onike said the training, a collaborative effort of the Education, Youth and Empowerment Committees and Mission Board of the society, was being offered free, as all expenses had been paid for by NASFAT. According to him, 134 youths who scaled through the rigorous screening exercise are participating in the first batch of the hands-on-training, while no fewer than 200 candidates went through the screening.

Onike, in a statement said: “The orientation part of the programme was initially designed to be held for three days physically, with all the arrangements made, including lecture hall and free feeding. “It was, however, shifted online on Thursday, in compliance with the government directives on social distancing to curtail the rampaging COVID-19 pandemic. “NASFAT, as a society, is poised to achieve the mission of ensuring that our youths and others have access to economic empowerment opportunities.

“This is coming, having achieved relative success in the area of widows’ empowerment, as hundreds of widows in NASFAT, especially at the headquarters have been financially empowered.” The chief missioner said that immediately after the ongoing ICT training, another training on youths entrepreneurship would be conducted in March with the kind support of good-spirited philanthropists. Commenting on the training, the National Youth Secretary, Mr Kabir Raji, said the importance of the training can be seen in the number of youths who have acquired various technical knowledge under HELD policy of NASFAT.
