Nollywood actress Motilola Adekunle has opened up about the realities of failed marriages and the societal pressures many women face, urging a shift in mindset when it comes to relationships and conflict resolution.
In a candid conversation with fellow actress Biola Bayo, Motilola shared her perspective on the emotional toll of marital breakdowns and the unhealthy competition she believes some women create within their marriages.
“No woman goes into marriage with the intention of leaving. When a marriage fails, nobody wins. I don’t know how people see it as a competition,” she said. “I think it is mostly women who want to make a scene out of everything. Who wants to be right about everything? There is nothing to be right about anything anymore.”

Motilola stressed the importance of maturity and emotional intelligence in navigating marital challenges, cautioning against the urge to always prove a point when love and understanding should come first.
She also offered a glimpse into her personal journey in Nollywood, speaking passionately about her early love for acting and how her current dual roles have added complexity to her craft.
“I am a stubborn goat. I fell in love with acting when I was in SS2. My major challenge is that now, as a director, it’s harder to be an actor,” she revealed.
Motilola’s remarks have sparked ongoing conversations around ego, emotional balance, and the weight of societal expectations—especially for women in the spotlight.
