The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man, Ifeanyi Odinka, for allegedly killing his 75-year-old father, Dennis Odinka, during a quarrel over proceeds from a land sale in Orlu.
Police spokesperson in the state Henry Okoye, in a statement on Wednesday, said operatives from the Orlu Division apprehended the suspect on August 12, 2025.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to stabbing his father to death following a disagreement over the sale proceeds,” Okoye said.
He added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri for further investigation and prosecution.
The command reiterated its commitment to fighting crime and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
