A man was rescued unhurt on Tuesday after becoming trapped inside a faulty elevator in a three-storey building on Freeman Street in the Zapass area of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said it received a distress call at about 11:50am and immediately deployed firefighters from the Ebute Elefun Fire Station to the scene.
According to the agency, the rescue team arrived within five minutes of receiving the emergency alert and promptly commenced operations to free the trapped occupant.
The victim was successfully rescued without sustaining any injuries.
Preliminary investigations by the fire service indicated that the incident was caused by a mechanical fault in the elevator.
Confirming the operation, the Controller of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said no casualty or injury was recorded during the rescue exercise.
