An Area Court in Jos on Monday sentenced Emmanuel Christopher, 25, to one month for stealing a sheep.
The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the two count charge of trespass as well as theft and begged the court for leniency.
The judge gave the convict an option of N 10,000 fine or 1 month imprisonment .
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo Jos police station on April 17 , by Samuel Elvis.
He said the complainant said the accused person, trespassed into his farm and stole his sheep valued at N 60,000.
The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, the convict confessed to have committed the act .
The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
