Let Governor Amaechi Be, Youths Tell President Jonathan

GEJ-Amaechi

Youths under the aegis of the Progressive Niger Delta Forum have called on elders and traditional rulers in Rivers state to intervene and prevail on President Goodluck Jonathan to stop the plot to remove Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi from office.

According to the youths, though Amaechi’s alleged offences are yet to be proved beyond doubt, the elders of Niger Delta states should stop a repeat of the disgraceful episode that befell governors D.S.P. Alamieyeseigha, James Ibori, Timipre Sylva, MEND leader Henry Okah, and many other Niger Delta leaders that were accused of offending the president.

National Coordinator of the Forum, Comrade Mike Olomu, said the decision of the concerned youths to reach out to progressive minded individuals and politicians is to stop the cycle of vindictive actions and disgraceful end to the political careers of promising natives of the Niger Delta due to alleged conflict with President Jonathan.

According to him, “All we want is to call on concerned elders, youths and progressive minded people of the Niger Delta region to intervene and stop the ugly cycle of vindictive attack on promising Niger Delta politicians.

“It is even more worrisome that he has shown signs of remorse and learnt his lessons. He should be left alone. It should be known that Amaechi is not seeking re-election but the President is, and all hands should be on deck to ensure caution.”
